Before You Move

What to do before you move

Declutter

First things first: declutter, declutter, declutter!

We always recommend starting the packing process by disposing or giving away any items you no longer want.

Over time, we gather a lot of possessions, some of which you may not want to take with you to your new home. Charities like the Salvation Army or BHF will appreciate decent quality second-hand items.

Get Packing!

It is very important to begin packing early, including miscellaneous items such as kids’ toys, candles, vases and shoes. If you are not packed and ready to be moved, this can significantly add to your moving time. We recommend making use of boxes and items that cannot fit in a box, can be placed in black bags.

Labels

If you are packing your own home, we would encourage you to not mix items from different rooms together and to label everything. Not only will this help the removal team to know where to put your items but save you time and stress when organising and unpacking.

Food

In preparation for your house move we would recommend only buying the essentials you need. For safety reasons we do not move perishables foods and cannot move your fridge/freezer whilst contents are still inside.

By stacking up on less, this will ensure that nothing goes to waste.
